| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A- NEWS RELEASE Ascension Man Arrested for Fatal Hit and Run WALKER- State Troopers arrested an Ascension man Sunday morning following a fatal hit and run crash that killed a man from Walker Saturday night. At approximately 7:49 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2009, Jeremy W. Wendt (W/M, 34 yrs old) was struck by an unknown southbound vehicle as he was walking along LA Hwy 447 near Henry Dr, south of Interstate 12. Wendt was fatally injured during the collision. The driver of the vehicle that struck Wendt fled the scene. There were no known witnesses to the crash so troopers partnered with local television media asking for help from the public in identifying the suspect vehicle and driver. Thanks to the efforts of the media, a witness contacted troopers with valuable information which led to the location of the suspect vehicle. A 1989 Ford F-150 truck was located at Fred’s Lounge near Port Vincent with damage consistent with evidence and information troopers obtained from the scene. At approximately 4:30 a.m., troopers located the suspect driver, Adam J. May (W/M, 47 yrs old) at his residence in Prairieville and placed him under arrest for Hit and Run. He was booked as a fugitive into the Ascension Parish Detention Center, and then later transported to the Livingston Parish Detention Center. Alcohol use by May is suspected and additional charges are pending completion of the investigation. Alcohol use by Wendt is unknown at this time; however, a blood sample was taken from Wendt and will be submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis. Louisiana State Police Troop A would like to thank our local television media partners for their assistance in this investigation.Contact information: Sgt. Markus L.
