Former Acadia Parish Deputy Arrested for Second Time

Lafayette, LA – On September 14, 2016, Louisiana State Police Investigators arrested 57 year old Maxine Trahan on charges of Felony Theft in the amount of $46,662.87 and Exploitation of the Infirmed. Trahan, a former deputy with the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office, is suspected to have committed the theft while she was still employed with the agency.

The investigation began in April 2016 when 15th Judicial District Attorney Keith Stutes requested Louisiana State Police investigate the theft of monies from the DA’s Drug Asset Forfeiture bank account. During the investigation, Detectives were able to determine Trahan was responsible for the theft. On April 15, 2016, Trahan was arrested and booked into the Acadia Parish Jail for Felony Theft in excess of $25,000.00.

While investigating that theft in April, State Police Detectives received information implementing Trahan in the theft of money from an elderly woman she once cared for. During the investigation, State Police Detectives were able to determine that Trahan stole $46,662.87 from the 86 year old female through various means.

On September 14, 2016, Louisiana State Police Detectives arrested Maxine Trahan for Felony Theft and Exploitation of the Infirmed. Trahan was booked at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. The case has been turned over to the District Attorney’s Office.
