The first fatal crash occurred shortly after 9:00 PM on LA 328 at Juleau Champagne Road in St. Martin Parish. The initial crash investigation led Troopers to determine 19 year-old Dedrick Senegal of Breaux Bridge was driving a 2011 Toyota Camry westbound on LA 328. On-scene evidence indicated that Senegal’s vehicle exited the right side of the roadway and overturned numerous times. Senegal was not wearing a seat belt and sustained moderate injuries. He was transported from the scene to Lafayette General Hospital. The passenger, 40 year-old Christopher Richard of St. Martinville, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. Richard sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on scene by the St. Martin Parish Coroner’s Office. The second fatal crash occurred shortly after 11:15 PM on US 167 at LA 182 in St. Landry Parish. Troopers were able to determine that 34 year-old Al Fournier of Lawtell, was riding a 2009 Suzuki GSX 1300 motorcycle eastbound on US 167 and struck the rear of an eastbound 2005 Dodge Durango operated by 54 year-old Debra Aclis of Oakdale. The initial impact caused the Durango to travel off of the roadway and strike a light pole. Troopers believe speed is a factor in the crash. Al Fournier sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead on scene by the St. Landry Parish Coroner’s Office. Debra Aclis was not wearing a seat belt and sustained minor injuries. She was transported to a local hospital and treated for her injuries There are no invitations to a significant or fatal crash.
