| TROOP I NEWS RELEASE October 30, 2016 Unrestrained Abbeville Man Killed in Single Vehicle Crash Vermilion Parish – On October 30, 2016, shortly before 2:30 a.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a fatal crash that occurred on US 167 near River Road. The crash took the life of 21 year-old Adan Quinn of Abbeville, LA. The initial investigation revealed that the crash occurred as Quinn was driving a 2007 Infinity passenger car southbound on US Hwy 167. For unknown reasons, Quinn ran off of the right side of the roadway. Quinn overcorrected, causing the vehicle to cross both southbound lanes of travel and the median. After crossing the median, the vehicle began to overturn, partially ejecting Quinn. Quinn was not wearing a seat and was pronounced dead on scene by the Vermilion Parish Coroner’s Office. A passenger, 21year-old Bryan Gamez of Abbeville, was wearing a seat belt and sustained moderate injuries. Gamez was transported to Lafayette General Medical Center and treated for his injuries. Impairment is suspected to be a factor in this crash, but standard toxicology samples were taken from Quinn and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. This crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists that distracted driving continues to be a major problem throughout Louisiana. Making good choices while in motor vehicles such as never driving while impaired, always wearing a seat belt, and avoiding all distractions can often mean the difference between life and death.
