Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A - NEWS RELEASE Pedestrian Struck and Killed on Burbank Avenue BATON ROUGE – A Baton Rouge woman was killed early this morning when she was struck by a vehicle on Burbank Avenue west of Gardere Lane. Shortly after 1:15 a.m. this morning, Tammy D. Walters (B/F, age 36) of Baton Rouge was walking in the westbound travel lane when she was struck by a 2004 Mazda Tribute, being driven west on Burbank by Tyrone W. Scott (B/M, age 33) of Baton Rouge. The East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office pronounced Walters deceased at the scene of the crash. Walters is suspected to have been impaired at the time of the crash, and her blood has been submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis. Although alcohol use by Scott was not suspected, he submitted to a chemical test for intoxication at Louisiana State Police Troop A. The results of the chemical test showed that he had no detectable alcohol in his system. No charges were filed as a result of this crash.
