HEADQUARTERS NEWS RELEASE UPDATE: LSP investigators confirmed this evening that Brian Lyn Smith was discharged from the hospital and subsequently booked into the St. John the Baptist Parish Jail on the below charges. Additional charges are forthcoming as detectives continue the investigation. Kyle David Joekel remains hospitalized at an area hospital to be released at an undetermined time.
