Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A - NEWS RELEASE State Police Traffic Stop Reveals Over 20 Pounds of Marijuana BATON ROUGE – A Louisiana State Trooper on patrol in the Troop A area made a traffic stop this morning that resulted in the arrest of a Texas man and the seizure of over 20 pounds of Marijuana. Just after 5:00 a.m. on Interstate 12 near milepost 32, a State Trooper stopped Jimmy D. Babineaux, Jr (B/M, age 30) of Houston, TX for failing to signal a lane change. During the traffic stop, the Trooper became suspicious and asked for permission to search Babineaux’s rental vehicle, a 2009 Toyota Camry. Troop A’s K-9 Handler arrived at the location and the State Police K-9 alerted to the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed 20.4 pounds of marijuana. Troopers arrested Babineaux and booked him into the Livingston Parish Jail on charges of Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana. Contact Information: Tpr Russell G.
