LSP Announces Free HAZMAT First Responders Training Baton Rouge – The Louisiana State Police has teamed up with the Baton Rouge Area Mutual Aid System (BRAMAS) and is proud to announce the First Annual Louisiana Hazardous Materials First Responders School. This FREE training is offered to emergency responders, planners, and managers working within Government or Private Industry. The dates of the training will be from October 24 through October 28 at the Louisiana State Police Training Academy.
Both government and private Industry leaders have come together to make this valuable training available and free. This has been made possible due to cooperation between LSP, BRAMAS, GOHSEP, TRANSCAER, LSU/FETI, DOW, Honeywell, Exxon/Mobile, Kirby Barge, CN Rail, CF Industries, Schneider Trucking, and a host of other supporters.
The training will cover tank trucks, barges, trains, chemicals, technician re-certifications, medical awareness, explosive awareness, commodity flow studies, pipeline awareness, and approximately twenty additional classes to choose from. The class will end on Friday, October 28th around noon with the GOHSEP United Way Cook Off fundraiser following immediately afterward.
The online registration deadline for the class is Monday, October 17. However, walk-in registrations will be accepted on October 24, 2011 provided there is space remaining in the class. Online registration can be found on the BRAMAS website by visiting http://brgov.com/dept/fire/bramas.htm.
