L S P Investigations Lead To Multiple Arrests

Baton Rouge: The LSP Region I Criminal Investigative Division’s Baton Rouge and New Orleans Offices conducted two investigations that resulted in the arrests of several individuals involved in illegal criminal activities.

On August 19, 2011, State Police Gaming Division’s New Orleans Office was contacted by Harrah's Casino New Orleans, in reference to an altercation between three New Orleans civilians and two Deputies with the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office. The investigation revealed that on August 18, 2011, the deputies were working an off-duty detail for the casino in the Masquerade Lounge and the deputies approached Meyakia Gamble (B/M, 23, of New Orleans, LA) who was on the dance floor without a shirt. Deputies asked Gamble to put his shirt back on and Gamble refused. Deputies attempted to remove Gamble from the dance floor and a second man, Charles Carroll Jr. (B/M, 26, of New Orleans, LA) initiated a physical altercation with the deputies. A third man, Dominic Young (B/M, 22, of New Orleans, LA) was also a participant in the altercation. Surveillance video provided by the casino, revealed that the three men took both deputies to the ground and began striking and kicking the deputies in the upper torsos and faces. A third deputy arrived on the scene and was able to place Gamble under arrest. Carroll and Young both fled the scene. Both deputies were treated for minor injuries at a local hospital. On August 24, 2011, arrest warrants for Carroll and Young were obtained and Carroll was arrested on August 25, 2011. Young remains at large and is wanted by the Louisiana State Police. Both Carroll and Gamble were booked at the Orleans Parish Central Lock-Up. Gamble was charged with Battery on a Police Officer (2 counts) and Resisting Arrest (2 counts). Carroll was charged with Felony Battery of a Police Officer (2 counts), Resisting Arrest with Force (2 counts), Public Intimidation and Interference with Police Officers. Young is wanted for Felony battery of a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest with Force and Interfering with a Police Officer. If you have any information on Young's whereabouts, please call Louisiana State Police at (504)471-2775 or your local law enforcement agency.

On Thursday, August 25, 2011, Renetta A. Bell (B/F, 51, Baton Rouge, LA) was arrested by State Police detectives on a warrant for insurance fraud. The arrest stems from an investigation conducted by the Louisiana State Police Insurance Fraud and Auto Theft Unit. A complaint was received from the Allstate Insurance Company in reference to a duplicate insurance claim being filed. During the investigation it was learned that a claim was made in December of 2009; Bell made a claim on her homeowner’s policy in reference to her home being burglarized. Bell was paid $9,000.00 for the claim. Parts of the claim valued at $1,000.00 were denied because no evidence could support ownership of the items claimed. In August of 2010, Bell filed a supplement claim valued at over $2,000.00. Bell claimed her Christmas tree and ornaments were not accounted for on the original claim. Allstate denied the claim. On September of 2010, Bell filed another theft claim, claiming that in May of 2010, her residence was burglarized and a Cashmere Christmas tree and various ornaments valued at $2,000.00 were taken. Allstate again denied the claim. Bell was booked at the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail.
