Unrestrained, Impaired Driver Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash

BATON ROUGE – A single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Gonzales man this morning on Interstate 10 in Ascension Parish shortly before 3:00 am. Jeremy P. Roy (W/M, age 27) of Gonzales was driving a 2009 Mazda MZ3 west on Interstate 10, west of LA 73, when he ran off the roadway to the left. The vehicle began to rotate, struck a tree, and came to rest against the tree. Roy was not restrained when the crash occurred and suffered fatal injuries. Alcohol is suspected to have been a factor in this crash. Louisiana State Troopers have submitted a sample of Roy’s blood to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis.
