HEADQUARTERS NEWS RELEASE January 18, 2014 ***UPDATE*** Lafayette Woman Wanted for Child Sex Trafficking Apprehended in Houston, Texas This morning, shortly after 2:00 AM, the Houston Police Department arrested Darneesha Lashay Martin after an extensive and coordinated search by Louisiana State Police, Texas Department of Public Safety Texas Rangers and the Houston Police Department. Martin is charged with Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes and Promoting Prostitution. Martin is currently being held in a Houston jail awaiting extradition to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. This investigation began during “Operation Carpe Diem”, which was an operation that lasted approximately two months and utilized Troopers from various sections of the Department of Public Safety, including Patrol, Detectives, Special Crimes, Narcotics, Intelligence, Motor Carrier Safety, Air Support, SWAT and DPS Police. They were assigned to teams utilizing the experience and specialized training of the department’s members while working closely with local and federal partners. Arrests varied from illegal narcotics trafficking, illegal weapons violations, theft, fugitive warrants, human trafficking, juvenile pornography, and sex offender violations. ***UPDATE*** Troopers Still Searching for Lafayette Woman for Child Sex Trafficking November 27, 2013 - LAFAYETTE PARISH- This morning shortly after 11:00 a.m., Alcoby Con LaSalle turned himself into Troopers at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. He was booked without incident for trafficking children for sexual purposes and for promoting prostitution. The search for Martin continues. Anyone with information is asked to call State Police at 337-262-3341 or 337-262-5880. Lafayette Couple Wanted for Child Sex Trafficking November 26, 2013 - LAFAYETTE PARISH- Louisiana State Troopers are asking for the public’s help locating two people wanted for charges relating to child sex trafficking. Troopers are looking for the following people: Darneesha Lashay Martin 22-years-old of Lafayette is wanted for trafficking children for sexual purposes and for promoting prostitution. Martin is a black female weighing 116 pounds and is 5’6” tall. Martin has black hair which may be dyed red. Alcoby Con LaSalle 19-years-old of Lafayette is wanted for trafficking children for sexual purposes and for promoting prostitution. LaSalle is a black male weighing 155 pounds and is 5’10” tall. LaSalle has black hair and brown eyes. These people currently have active warrants for their arrest which have resulted from an ongoing State Police investigation. The investigation focused on combating the trafficking of children for sexual purposes and to recover juvenile victims from sexual exploitation.
