Edmonson, Superintendent HEADQUARTERS- NEWS RELEASE Arrests Made in Burglary of Tire Warehouse BATON ROUGE- On April 21, 2009, the Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division began an investigation into the theft of approximately $200,000.00 worth of vehicle tires from the Consolidated Tire and Oil (CTO) warehouse in St. Gabriel, LA. On the morning of April 21, 2009 employees arrived early to work and discovered tires stacked outside of the building. During their investigation, LSP detectives determined the warehouse had been burglarized approximately 40 times over the past 6 months in which numerous tires had been stolen during each burglary. The majority of the stolen tires were being sold to tire shops in Baton Rouge and New Orleans. On June 8, 2009, LSP detectives arrested Shelton Dauzart ,(B/M, 57 yrs old), for his involvement in the burglaries after receiving tips from a Crimestoppers news segment which aired on WAFB-TV two weeks prior. During his arrest, Detectives discovered that Dauzart was cultivating Marijuana at his residence located on Brightside Dr. in Baton Rouge. Dauzart was transported to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison where he was booked on Cultivation Of Marijuana. He will later be transferred to Iberville Parish Prison where he will be booked on 40 counts of Burglary and 40 counts of Unauthorized Entry Of A Place Of Business. A second airing of Crimestoppers on WAFB-TV on June 10, 2009 led to the arrest of James Menville (B/M, 39 years old) after he voluntarily surrendered to LSP detectives on June 12, 2009. Menville, a former employee of CTO, was arrested and charged with 30 counts of Burglary, 30 counts of Unauthorized Entry of a Place of Business and Theft. He was booked into the Iberville Parish Prison. This investigation is on going and additional arrests are expected.
