| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent Headquarters- Press Release December 16, 2009 Louisiana State Police Postpones Scheduled Cadet Class Baton Rouge – The Louisiana State Police has postponed the Cadet Training Academy class which was scheduled for February 28, 2010. The academy was set to fill approximately 40 trooper positions vacated through attrition. Over 700 applications were accepted to fill the 40 vacancies with 249 persons successfully completing background requirements and the interview process. The postponement was prompted by a mid-year budget reduction imposed on all agencies within Public Safety Services. “One of the most challenging aspects of serving as Superintendent is mitigating the effects of the budgetary crisis under which our state is currently operating. In these challenging economic times, difficult decisions must be made to ensure that the State Police mission is accomplished in the most efficient and effective means possible,” said Colonel Mike Edmonson, State Police Superintendent. “It is imperative that we continue to examine the way we conduct business and take proactive approaches to lessen the impact to the Department and never adversely affect public safety. Louisiana’s citizens are our greatest assets and the Louisiana State Police is committed to ensuring that they are safe.” Applicants are encouraged to monitor the Louisiana State Police Website at www.lsp.org for cadet class updates.
