Foreign National Arrested on Narcotics Charges

BATON ROUGE – Louisiana State Police Criminal Intelligence Unit and Narcotics Investigators, working in conjunction with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Special Agents and Secret Service Special Agents, arrested Ali Al Khurdi (O/M, age 44) this afternoon in Baton Rouge. The arrest came after an extensive multi-jurisdictional investigation spurred by information received by investigators.

Through the investigation and information obtained, State Troopers and federal investigators learned that Al Khurdi had several thousand dosage units of different controlled dangerous substances hidden in a storage unit he was renting at the Safeguard Self-Storage facility located on Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge. Investigators contacted Al Khurdi at his residence at 4350 Inniswold Road in Baton Rouge and confronted him with the information they gained through the investigation. Al Khurdi admitted to investigators that he had concealed several thousand dosage units of Lortab, Xanax, and other controlled substances in the storage unit he was renting. Al Khurdi then gave investigators consent to search the storage unit.

During the search of the storage unit, investigators found over five thousand (5,000) dosage units of Lortab (Hydrocodone-Schedule II), Xanax (Alprazolam-Schedule IV), and Viagra (Schedule IV). Investigators arrested Al Khurdi and booked him into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of Possession with Intent to Distribute Hydrocodone, Alprazolam, and Viagra.

Al Khurdi came into the United States on a student visa that expired in 1990. He will be unable to bond out of jail and will be detained by ICE for deportation.
