Baton Rouge Man Arrested on Burglary and Theft Charges

BATON ROUGE – Louisiana State Police Detectives arrested a Baton Rouge man following a five-week investigation into the burglary of a Baton Rouge residence and the theft of over $5,000 in equipment, including two chainsaws and a portable generator. On Monday, October 12, 2009, Detectives arrested Milton Maloid (B/M, age 26) of Baton Rouge and booked him into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of Simple Burglary and Felony Theft (over $500).

During the investigation, Detectives lifted Maloid’s fingerprints at the scene of the crime. Further investigation led to the recovery of the two chainsaws, valued at approximately $400 each, and the identification of a second suspect. Detectives are still searching for the second suspect, Vincent C. Lavigne (B/M, age 44) of Baton Rouge, and have issued a warrant for Lavigne’s arrest. Anyone with information regarding Lavigne’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact Louisiana State Police at (225) 754-8500.
