| TROOP A NEWS RELEASE May 31, 2016 Six Year Old Succumbs to Injuries after Thursday Afternoon Crash in East Baton Rouge Parish Baton Rouge, LA – At approximately 7:30 pm on May 26, 2016, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a three vehicle crash involving serious injuries on LA 42 (Highland Rd.) at the intersection of LA 427 (Old Perkins Rd.) in East Baton Rouge Parish. Yesterday, Troopers learned that 6 year old Ava Branstetter of Prairieville, LA had succumb to injuries she sustained in the crash. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as 67 year old Jacque Gregory of Prairieville, LA was traveling westbound on LA 42 in a 2004 Nissan Quest. Gregory failed to yield and began making a left turn onto LA 427. At the same time, 30 year old Karl Tiemann of El Paso, TX was traveling eastbound on LA 42 in a 2011 Jeep Wrangler. Tiemann’s vehicle struck the right side of Gregory’s vehicle in the intersection causing it to roll onto its driver’s side. Gregory’s vehicle began to slide through the intersection on its driver’s side and was struck by 53 year old Aileen King of Stuart, FL 2015 Chevrolet Cruze. Branstetter was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital with serious injuries. She later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased by doctors. Branstetter was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in this crash. Contact Information: | |||
