| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE HEADQUARTERS- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release February 12, 2009 MARDI GRAS PARADE ROUTE RESTRICTIONS BATON ROUGE- The Spanish Town Mardi Gras parade is scheduled to roll through downtown Baton Rouge on Saturday, February 21, 2009. The parade route will take the parade through the Capitol Park area and along state governmental buildings. Three additional parades are also scheduled for this upcoming weekend in the downtown Baton Rouge area. Because of this, the Department of Public Safety would like to remind everyone that tents, barbeque pits and other cooking devices are not allowed on state property in the downtown area without proper permits from the Office of State Buildings. Capitol Police will be patrolling the area during the parade to ensure these prohibited items are removed if not properly permitted. For more information on obtaining permits, please call the Office of State Buildings at 225-219-4800. Individuals or groups who wish to setup their tents and cooking devices during Saturday’s parade may do so without permits along the west side of River Road. Parking will be available to the public at the Galvez and State Building parking garages. The Galvez Garage is located on North Street between 5th and 6th Streets. The State Garage is on 3rd Street at Convention St. The LaSalle and Visitor’s Center garages will be closed during the parades. For more information contact: Sgt. Markus L.
