Edmonson, Superintendent HEADQUARTERS- NEWS RELEASE Grand Jury Indicts Matamoros for Arson and Insurance Fraud BATON ROUGE- On Wednesday, November 12, 2008, the Grand Jury of East Baton Rouge Parish returned a True Bill indicting Cedric Matamoros on charges of Aggravated Arson, Arson with Intent to Defraud (2 counts), Insurance Fraud (4 counts), and Workers’ Compensation Fraud. The Louisiana State Police Insurance Fraud and Auto Theft Unit arrested Cedric and Shelna Matamoros on August 6, 2008, after a lengthy two-year investigation into a residential arson, a workers’ compensation claim and two vehicle arsons. Investigation into this case is still on going. The Louisiana State Police takes all incidents of insurance fraud seriously. Working with the Louisiana Department of Insurance, Troopers will actively pursue any complaints of criminal activity involving residential, personal property or commercial insurance as well as worker’s compensation policies.
