AMANT- On December 10, 2010, Louisiana State Police detectives, working in conjunction with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, arrested a St. Amant couple for numerous charges ranging from narcotics distribution to possession of stolen property. On December 8, 2010, State Police detectives conducted an undercover purchase of prescription Hydrocodone pills from Kenneth and Lena Lessard at their home in St. Amant, Louisiana. Based on this purchase, a search warrant was obtained for their residence. On December 10, 2010, State Police and Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics detectives returned to the residence with the search warrant and discovered approximately 1,000 dosage units of Hydrocodone, Oxycodone, Methadone, Carisoprodol, Alprazolam, and other legend drugs. Detectives suspected all these medications were illegally obtained in Texas. In addition, detectives also located $4,524 in currency, a Rolex watch and 20 gift cards from various stores. Detectives believe the gift cards were being used as a money-laundering tool. While executing the search warrant, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s detectives also arrested two additional individuals who arrived on the scene and were in possession of illegal controlled dangerous substances. During the course of the search, detectives discovered an unusually large amount of power tools, lawn equipment, pressure washers and generators that were stored in a shed located on the property. Ascension Parish Sheriff’s detectives obtained a separate search warrant for the equipment and immediately confirmed one of the pressure washers was stolen.
