State Police Opening Morganza Forward Command Morganza – In preparation of the opening of the Morganza Spillway, the Louisiana State Police will set up a Forward Command located at the spillway structure to ensure public safety. LSP Morganza Spillway Operations: · The LSP Emergency Operation Center will extend its operations to 24 hours. · Beginning this evening, State Police Troop A will continuously patrol the Morganza Spillway. This will be a 24 patrol until further notice. · The LSP Command Post will stage at Morganza Spillway at 8:00 am tomorrow morning and serve as the Forward Command for State Police Operations. · Closing of LA 1 at the Morganza Spillway will occur at 10:00 am tomorrow morning. All detour routes will be activated at that time. Ten State Troopers will be assigned to patrol the area and close down roadways as necessary.
