Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A - NEWS RELEASE August 9, 2009 Unrestrained Driver Killed in One-Vehicle Crash BATON ROUGE – A single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Denham Springs man last night on LA 447 south of Interstate 12 last night in Livingston Parish. Shortly after 6:30 pm, Jefferey Crotwell (W/M, age 47) of Denham Springs was driving a 2003 Kia Sorrento south on LA 447 when he slowly drifted off the roadway to the right. The vehicle entered the ditch and struck a concrete culvert. Troopers investigating the crash determined that the vehicle simply ran off the road with no steering input or braking. Crotwell was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Livingston Parish Coroner’s Office. He was unrestrained at the time of the crash. Alcohol is not suspected to have been a factor in the crash, but prescription medication may have been a factor. Troopers have submitted a sample of Crotwell’s blood to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis. Contact Information: Tpr Russell G.
