Edmonson, Superintendent HEADQUARTERS - NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: October 4, 2010 Suspected Road Rage Incident Leads to Shooting Baton Rouge – A suspected early morning road rage incident left one Clinton man recovering in the hospital from gunshot wounds and another Clinton man in jail for Attempted Murder. This morning at approximately 5:30 a.m., Bennett Bunch (31 y/o of Clinton, W/M) was driving a 2005 GMC Sierra truck southbound on LA 67 (Plank Rd.) south of the Clinton city limits. As Bunch was southbound on LA 67, a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe pulled out on to the highway into the path of Bunch’s GMC. As Bunch attempted to pass the Chevrolet, the driver pointed a pistol at Bunch. Bunch completed the pass and continued southbound on LA 67. Soon thereafter, shots were fired and two bullets entered Bunch’s GMC through the rear window. The rounds continued through the driver seat striking Bunch in the back. Bunch immediately drove to the Slaughter Police Department and called for help as the Chevrolet fled the scene. Bunch was transported by Acadian Ambulance to Lane Memorial Hospital in Zachary. Bunch is currently in stable condition. Louisiana State Police Detectives were called out to investigate the shooting. Throughout the day, investigators were actively following leads. Investigators were able to identify Joshua Rogers (26 y/o of Clinton, B/M) as a suspect in the shooting. Rogers was arrested by State Police on one count of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder. Rogers will be booked as a fugitive in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. Rogers will then be transported to the East Feliciana Parish Prison and booked on the above charge. Bennett Bunch is the son of East Feliciana Sheriff Talmadge Bunch.
