HEADQUARTERS NEWS RELEASE April 24, 2014 Woman Arrested for DWI Rearrested After She Calls State Police Crime Lab & Attempts to Have Evidence Destroyed Baton Rouge – On April 24, 2014, Louisiana State Police Detectives arrested 23 year old Jana L. Pourciau of Maringouin for False personation and Forgery after she called the State Police Crime Lab posing as an official with the 18th Judicial District Court and attempting to have her toxicology evidence destroyed. Shortly before 11:00 pm on April 12, 2014, Troopers responded to a single vehicle crash on LA Hwy 977 south of LA Hwy 77 in Pointe Coupee Parish. Upon arriving to the scene, Troopers determined that while traveling northbound on LA Hwy 977 Pourciau lost control of her 2010 Lexus RX350. The Lexus ran off the roadway, struck the fence of an elementary school and overturned. Troopers believed that Pourciau was impaired at the time of the crash, and she was arrested and issued a summons for First Offense DWI, Careless operation and No seatbelt. She was then transported to Baton Rouge General Medical Center Mid-City for injuries sustained in the crash, and while there a toxicology sample was obtained from her by medical personnel. On April 22, 2014, Pourciau called the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab from her cell phone. Using a fictitious name, Pourciau falsely informed Crime Lab employees that she was an employee of the 18th JDC, and stated that the blood evidence from her crash could be destroyed “because the case had been dismissed and was not going to be prosecuted.” She then sent an email from her personal email account to the Crime Lab stating the same. Upon learning of the fictitious phone call and email, Louisiana State Police Detectives interviewed Pourciau. She admitted to calling and emailing the Crime Lab in an attempt to have the evidence from her crash destroyed. Pourciau was placed under arrest for LRS 14:112 – False personation and LRS 14:72 – Forgery. She was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. Contact Information: TFC Jared L.
