Prairieville Man Arrested for Images of Child Pornography

Ascension Parish – On August 15, 2018, Investigators from the Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit (SVU) arrested a Prairieville man after they learned that he was in possession of child pornography in Ascension Parish. Investigators arrested 31-year-old Oarey P. Fontenot for charges related to the possession/distribution of images of child pornography.

The case began when LSP Detectives conducting online investigations observed files indicative of child sex abuse images on an electronic device determined to have been used by Fontenot. Detectives secured a search warrant for Fontenot’s residence in Prairieville and a forensic examination of electronic devices in the home revealed images indicative of child pornography.

Fontenot was placed under arrest and charged with one count of possession of pornography involving juveniles and one count of distribution of pornography involving juveniles. He was booked into the Ascension Parish jail on the above charges. The Louisiana Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, and FBI all assisted in this case.

The public plays an integral role in identifying suspects accused of these crimes, and is strongly urged to report criminal or suspicious activity. The Louisiana State Police online reporting system is available to the public through a convenient and secure reporting form that is submitted to the appropriate investigators. Citizens can access the form by visiting http://la-safe.org/ and clicking on the “Suspicious Activity” link.
