Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A - NEWS RELEASE July 16, 2009 Pedestrian Struck, State Troopers Asking for Assistance BATON ROUGE – State Troopers are currently investigating a crash involving a pedestrian that occurred yesterday, July 15, between 4:00 a.m. and 4:10 a.m. on LA 44 south of LA 621 in Ascension Parish. Joseph P. Hernandez (W/M, age 21) of Prairieville was struck by an unknown vehicle and sustained serious injuries. Troopers, Ascension Sheriff’s Deputies, and Acadian Ambulance personnel arrived to the scene within minutes of receiving notification. Hernandez was in the right northbound lane of LA 44 just north of the intersection with Millie Road, directly in front of Ascension Golf Carts. Acadian Ambulance transported Hernandez to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, where he remains in the Intensive Care Unit with serious injuries. Troopers investigating the incident called on the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab to process the scene. Troopers are also asking for the public’s assistance in bringing this case to closure.
