Public Safety Officials Commend Peaceful Weekend Activities, Urge the Reporting of Suspicious Activity


Baton Rouge, LA – Throughout the weekend, public safety officials from numerous federal, state, and local agencies worked to coordinate security protocols and ensure safety for protesters, Capitol grounds, and the surrounding community. The peaceful assemblies and activities throughout the weekend was a testament to the intended purpose of our First Amendment rights, including the right to peacefully protest.

Leading up to Inauguration Day on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, a multi-agency collaborative team will remain in a heightened posture to monitor for any emerging threats to our state. No specific and substantiated threat to life or property have been identified at this time to include the State Capitol or other government buildings.

All agencies remain steadfast in our mission to protect our citizens and deter criminal activity which prevents others from peacefully expressing their First Amendment rights.

Citizens are urged to report suspicious and/or suspected criminal activity by utilizing:
