Single-Vehicle Crash Claims Life of Lafayette Woman

BATON ROUGE – A single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Lafayette woman just before 8:00 a.m. this morning on Interstate 10 eastbound east of LA 77 in West Baton Rouge Parish. Shirley P. Laminack (W/F, age 80) of Lafayette was killed when the 2007 Honda Odyssey she was riding in ran off the road to the right and struck a tree. The driver of the van, Fred T Laminack Jr. (W/M, age 80) of Lafayette, was seriously injured and taken to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital by Acadian Ambulance Airmed, where he remains in serious condition.

Troopers are still investigating and trying to determine the cause of the crash. Alcohol use is not suspected to have been a factor in the crash; however, Troopers have submitted a sample of Laminack’s blood to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis.
