HEADQUARTERS NEWS RELEASE January 29, 2021 Joint Investigation Leads to the Arrest of a Baton Rouge Man on Charges of Child Pornography Baton Rouge – On January 29, 2021, Investigators from the Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit – Baton Rouge Field Office in conjunction with the FBI arrested an East Baton Rouge Parish man after they learned of his participation in distribution of child pornography. 38-year-old John Edward Marshall of Baton Rouge was arrested for charges related to the distribution of child pornography. The initial investigation began in July of 2020 when Investigators learned Marshall was distributing videos and pictures of child pornography on a social media application. Investigators obtained a warrant, and on January 29, 2021, arrested Marshall. Marshall was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail for violating LRS 14:81.1 Distribution of Pornography Involving Juveniles (2 counts). This remains an active investigation, and there is no further information available at this time. The LSP Special Victims Unit works to rescue and seek justice for the victims of crimes involving the exploitation of children and the trafficking of humans for sex or labor. The public plays an important role in identifying suspects accused of these crimes, and is urged to report criminal or suspicious activity.
