Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A - NEWS RELEASE July 27, 2009 Pedestrian Struck, Killed on LA 73 in Ascension Parish BATON ROUGE – Louisiana State Troopers arrested a Prairieville woman last night after she struck and killed a pedestrian while driving on LA 73 shortly before 10:00 am last night. Nikki R. Estilette (W/F, age 26) of Prairieville was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Camaro south on LA 73 north of LA 74 when she drifted to the right and struck Joan Scott (B/F, age 38) of Geismar on the southbound shoulder. Scott was walking southbound on the right shoulder of the roadway. Acadian Ambulance transported Scott to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Gonzales and then to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. After Estilette struck Scott, she continued south on LA 73 until Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Deputies located her in the Walgreens parking lot on the corner of LA 73 and LA 74. After investigating the crash, Troopers believed Scott was impaired from drug use and arrested her on the scene. State Troopers booked her into the Ascension Parish Jail on charges of Vehicular Homicide, DWI, Hit and Run, and Improper Lane Use. Contact Information: Tpr Russell G.
