Louisiana State Police Charge New Orleans Political Lobbyist in Theft Investigation

Baton Rouge, LA - Following an investigation into a theft incident from inside the State Capitol building, LSP Detectives have charged 65 year old New Orleans resident James “Jimmy” Fahrenholtz with one count each of Felony Theft, Possession of Stolen Property, and Obstruction of Justice.

Troopers began the investigation on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 upon receiving a complaint regarding the theft of a brown leather case file containing an iPad, keyboard case, and various documents. The victim reported the theft after discovering the items missing and electronically locating the iPad no longer in the Baton Rouge area. Through the course of the investigation, LSP Detectives developed information leading to a residence on Ursulines Avenue in New Orleans, LA. At the residence, Detectives made contact with Fahrenholtz who denied knowledge of the incident or the stolen property. Upon further speaking with Fahrenholtz, Troopers determined a search warrant for the residence was necessary consequently leading to the discovery of the stolen items. Detectives concluded that Fahrenholtz was responsible for the theft of the items from the State Capitol building and the intentional attempt to conceal and destroy the property before speaking with investigators.

Troopers subsequently obtained arrests warrants for Fahrenholtz out of East Baton Rouge Parish for Felony Theft and Orleans Parish on charges of Possession of Stolen Property and Obstruction of Justice. Fahrenholtz turned himself in to LSP Detectives on Monday, April 27, 2015 and was booked accordingly.
