Louisiana State Analytical & Fusion Exchange Director and Staff Nationally Recognized During Annual Training Event

Baton Rouge, LA – State Police Superintendent Colonel Mike Edmonson announced today the recognition of two Louisiana State Police Fusion Center members for their outstanding efforts in the field of public safety. Louisiana State Police Captain Chuck McNeal, Director of the Louisiana State Analytical & Fusion Exchange (LA-SAFE), was recognized as the National Fusion Center Director of the Year. Louisiana Cyber Crime Analyst Devin King was named as the National Cyber Analyst of the Year. The awards were presented at the National Fusion Center Association’s annual training event held on November 3-5, 2015 in Alexandria, VA.

The Louisiana State Analytical & Fusion Exchange (LA-SAFE) promotes collaboration in an all-crimes/all-hazards environment supporting federal, state, local, and private sectors by working together to provide timely information for use in promoting public safety and national security against terrorist and other criminal threats. During major disasters and emergencies, LA-SAFE actively works to collect and analyze information providing responsible parties with pertinent background findings for decision making processes.

As director of LA-SAFE since 2008, Captain McNeal is credited with the growth and expansion of the fusion center’s all-crimes/all-hazards mission by providing superior customer service and expanding its partnerships across all levels of government. Throughout several recent natural and manmade disasters, Captain McNeal was able to showcase how intelligence gathering can support the emergency management mission. His standard operating procedures and collaboration with the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness is a recognized success story across the nation.

Cyber Crime Analyst Devin King, a statewide project officer for the Louisiana Division of Administration’s Information Security Team has been a cyber analyst assigned to LA-SAFE for the past 6 years. During the National Fusion Center Association’s conference, Mr. King was recognized by his peers for his work and excellence in the field of cyber protection.

“The dedication and commitment of both Captain McNeal and Mr. King has undoubtedly been instrumental in the continued safety and security of our state and critical infrastructure,” said Colonel Edmonson. “We are extremely proud of their continued efforts and successes in public safety and threat management.”

“This national recognition is a testament to the great work of our fusion center personnel on a daily basis to keep our communities safe,” said Captain McNeal. “The hard work of our men and women in LA-SAFE working alongside our partner agencies across the country leads to a safer and secure future for Louisiana.”
