| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP A - NEWS RELEASE August 2, 2009 Unrestrained Driver Killed in One-Vehicle Crash BATON ROUGE – A single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Norwood man last night on LA 442 east of LA 19 in East Feliciana Parish. Shortly before 9:00 pm, Charles Knighten (B/M, age 52) of Norwood was driving a 1991 Chevrolet Pickup east on LA 442 when he entered a left hand curve and ran off the road to the right. The pickup entered the ditch along the side of the road, struck a fence and several small trees, and then struck a large tree before coming to rest. Troopers investigating the crash determined that the truck simply ran off the road with no steering input or braking. Knighten was pronounced deceased on the scene by the East Feliciana Coroner’s Office. He was unrestrained at the time of the crash. Alcohol is not suspected to have been a factor in the crash; however, Troopers have submitted a sample of Knighten’s blood to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis.
