TROOP A NEWS RELEASE May 1, 2014 Troop A to Implement New Policy Regarding Physical Inspections and Trailer Stamps Baton Rouge – Louisiana State Police Troop A would like to announce a change in its policy regarding physical inspections of vehicles (DPS Form 3515) and the issuance of trailer stamps. Beginning on May 5, 2014, physical inspections and trailer stamps will now be conducted in the rear parking lot of the Office of Motor Vehicles (7701 Independence Blvd. in Baton Rouge) on Monday - Thursday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Troopers ask that those who seek physical inspections or trailer stamps do so during these hours, and that they arrive at the Office of Motor Vehicles with all necessary paperwork (valid driver’s license, vehicle title or bill of sale/transfer, valid proof of insurance). In order to obtain a trailer stamp on a homemade trailer, owners must provide receipts for all materials used in the construction of the trailer, most importantly a receipt for an axle purchased from a licensed dealer. Physical inspections and trailer stamps will not be conducted during times of inclement weather. Louisiana State Police wishes to remind the public that despite the time and date restrictions, physical inspections and trailer stamps will remain free of charge. However, this is not to be confused with motor vehicle inspections. Motor vehicle inspection (MVI) stickers for passenger vehicles may be obtained from authorized MVI stations only.
