HEADQUARTERS NEWS RELEASE October 15, 2014 Multi-Agency Investigation Targeting Human Trafficking Nets Several Arrests Baton Rouge – Law enforcement arrested eleven individuals in a multi-agency task force operation focused on human trafficking on October 9, 2014. The operation was part of ongoing efforts targeting human trafficking and prostitution throughout the state. The task force includes Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit, East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, the Department of Probation and Parole, Homeland Security Investigations, Louisiana Attorney General's Office, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Delta Drug Task Force. Task force members arrested eleven individuals and charged them with various statutes pertaining to prostitution (LRS 14:82 – Prostitution or LRS 14:83 – Soliciting for prostitution). All listed below were booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison: - Navonah S. Matthews (29 yo female – 14:82) - Keyara S. Vance (21 yo female – 14:82) - Carolyn A. Mourning (21 yo female – 14:82) - Latterica N. Roberts (20 yo female – 14:82 / fugitive for Probation & Parole) - Ivor M. Grillier (26 yo female – 14:82) - Ciera Jones (27 yo female – 14:82) - Ronnie Arnold (25 yo male – 14:83) - J'ven Johnson (23 yo male – 14:83) - Blake Falcon (33 yo male – 14:83) - Alessie Landry (30 yo female – 14:82) - Kristy Theriot (47 yo female – 14:82) The LSP Special Victims Unit (SVU), comprised of State Police Troopers who work in partnership with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, was created to combat child exploitation and investigate child and adult sex trafficking as well as labor trafficking across Louisiana. The LSP SVU - Baton Rouge Field Office is made up of Troopers and East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Deputies. “Louisiana State Police will continue to remain vigilant as long as those individuals choosing to promote, solicit, and engage in sex crimes remain a threat to the safety of our citizens,” said Colonel Mike Edmonson, Louisiana State Police Superintendent. “Louisiana State Police will continue to partner with law enforcement agencies across the state to bring these criminals to justice.” “The Sheriff’s Office is committed to continuing to work with our local, state and federal counterparts to combat human trafficking, and identify and assist victims of sex crimes,” East Baton Rouge Sheriff Sid Gautreaux said. “This operation is just one of many steps we are taking to combat sex crimes.” The public plays an integral role in identifying suspects accused of these crimes and is strongly urged to report criminal or suspicious activity.
