HEADQUARTERS - NEWS RELEASE October 17, 2014 Houma Man Arrested for Terrorizing Terrebonne District Attorney On Thursday, October 16, 2014, Troopers assigned to the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations arrested a Houma man for threats made against Terrebonne Parish District Attorney Joe Waitz Jr. The investigation started yesterday when the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office contacted Louisiana State Police Detectives to investigate a threat made against Terrebonne Parish District Attorney Joe Waitz Jr. According to the complaint, Michael J. Martin (W/M, 02/21/1964) of 102 Highland Dr. in Houma, LA made several Facebook posts critical of District Attorney Joe Waitz Jr., the Terrebonne Parish District Attorney's Office, and the Thirty-Second Judicial District Judges. In one of the posts, Martin referenced Districct Attorney Joe Waitz's son, Joe Waitz III, and posted a life threatening comment. After investigating, troopers obtained an arrest warrant for Martin. Troopers located Martin at his residence and served the arrest warrant without incident. Martin was booked at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex and charged with LRS 14:40.1, Terrorizing.
