| HEADQUARTERS NEWS RELEASE December 8, 2016 Troopers Discover Illegal Gaming Operation in Iberville Parish Restaurant Plaquemine, LA – Shortly after 12:00 p.m. on December 8, 2016, Troopers with the Louisiana State Police Gaming Enforcement Division, with the assistance of the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office, arrested 45 year old Adolfo Gonzalez-Lopez of Plaquemine. The arrest was the result of an investigation into an alleged illegal gambling operation being run in the “La Rumba Mexican Grill” in Plaquemine. On November 4, 2016, the LSP Gaming Enforcement Division began a month long investigation after receiving credible information that a computer based casino was being operated illegally out of the La Rumba Mexican Grill. Troopers conducted multiple undercover operations in the establishment. As a result of the operations, they discovered that illegal gambling was consistently taking place at the restaurant. On December 8, 2016, Troopers and Iberville Parish Deputies executed a search warrant at the La Rumba Mexican Grill. As a result of the search, Troopers arrested the manager, Gonzalez-Lopez. He was booked into the Iberville Parish jail on four counts of LRS 14:90.7 - Gambling by Electronic Sweepstakes Device. Troopers also seized a desktop computer and multiple hard drives as part of the investigation. This investigation is ongoing, and further arrests may be pending. The Louisiana State Police Gaming Enforcement Division, in conjunction with the Louisiana Gaming Control Board, will continue to work to ensure the integrity of gaming activities at Louisiana casinos.
