Aspiring Troopers to Report for Louisiana State Police Cadet Class #95
Baton Rouge, LA The next step in the journey for a dedicated group of men and women will begin at the Louisiana State Police Training Academy this Sunday, November 6th. Sixty-five individuals, hailing from a variety of backgrounds, will officially become State Police Cadets reporting to the Louisiana State Police Training Academy to begin an intensive training regimen. Candidates for State Police Cadet Class #95 were chosen after completing an extensive hiring process which includes a written test, physical assessment, psychological evaluation, background investigation, polygraph and oral interview.

During the roughly 22 week long academy, cadets will receive training in various subjects including advanced crash investigation, emergency vehicle operations, impaired driving detection, traffic incident management, cultural diversity, effective communication and leadership skills. Upon successful completion of the LSP Training Academy, the newly graduated Troopers will participate in a 10-14 week field training program before beginning their careers of dedication, protection, and service to the citizens of Louisiana.

“The courage shown by these men and women to step forward and accept the challenge of becoming a Louisiana State Trooper is the first step in building a career of dedicated service,” said Colonel Mike Edmonson, State Police Superintendent. “While the next several weeks will be extremely difficult for these cadets, our expectations are high as success is the only option to ensure these cadets possess the knowledge and skills necessary to serve as Louisiana State Troopers and effectively protect the citizens of Louisiana.”

Cadet Class #95 is the fourth State Police cadet class to be held since January of 2014. Cadet Class #92 graduated 46 Troopers on May 22, 2014, Cadet Class #93 graduated 58 Troopers on April 10, 2015, and Cadet Class #94 graduated 57 Troopers on December 17, 2015.
