HEADQUARTERS NEWS RELEASE June 8, 2016 Baton Rouge Man Arrested on Methamphetamine Charges Baton Rouge – Louisiana State Police Narcotics Detectives arrested a Baton Rouge man on the afternoon of June 8, 2016 as the result of an undercover narcotics investigation. After finding him to be in possession of nearly 1 pound of methamphetamine, Troopers arrested 24 year old Corey T. Gardner and booked him into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II CDS (Methamphetamine), and Possession of a Firearm with a CDS (controlled dangerous substance). During the course of the investigation, undercover narcotics detectives were able to determine that Gardner was distributing methamphetamine from his vehicle in the Baton Rouge area. Detectives also observed that Gardner was in possession of a loaded Glock .40 handgun and approximately $1,400 cash while doing so. Detectives made contact with Gardner, and a search revealed him to be in possession of two small bags containing approximately 29 grams of methamphetamine. Gardner gave Detectives permission to search his residence, and upon doing so they located approximately 301 more grams of methamphetamine. A warrant was subsequently issued for Gardner, and he was placed under arrest and booked on the above listed charges. The narcotics, cash, and firearm were seized as evidence, and detectives estimate the street value of the narcotics to be approximately $33,000. Louisiana State Troopers will continue to provide the citizens of Louisiana a safer community through proactive drug related enforcement and cooperative efforts with local and federal law enforcement agencies. Troopers will target local and multi-state drug trafficking organizations by enforcing all state and federal laws governing the illicit manufacturing, distribution, sale, and use of drugs.
