TROOP G - NEWS RELEASE October 3, 2012 Fatal Crash in Red River Parish On October 3, 2012, shortly before 10:30 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G investigated a one vehicle crash on LA Highway 1, about 1 mile south of LA Highway 509, in Red River Parish that claimed the life of a Mansfield man. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2004 Cadillac Deville, driven by 24-year-old Brady Thigpen of Mansfield, was traveling south on LA Highway 1 when for unknown reasons the vehicle exited the roadway and struck a tree. Thigpen was transported by Life Air to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. A toxicology sample was obtained from Thigpen and will be submitted for analysis. Speed is suspected to be a factor in this crash. This crash remains under investigation. Troopers urge motorists to remain vigilant while driving and remember that crashes are unexpected events. By taking precautionary steps including never driving while distracted or impaired and always obeying the laws of the road, motorists can substantially reduce their risk of being involved in a crash.
