TROOP G - NEWS RELEASE August 29, 2012 Fatal crash in Webster Parish On August 29, 2012, shortly after 10:30 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G investigated a one vehicle crash on LA Highway 163 about 3 miles south of LA Highway 164 in Webster Parish that claimed the life of a Shreveport woman. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2007 Chevrolet Express Van driven by 53-year-old Ivy Riley of Shreveport was traveling south on LA Highway 163 when for unknown reasons the van exited the roadway, ran through a fence, and struck a tree. Riley was pronounced dead at the scene by the Webster Parish Coroner. The lone passenger in the vehicle, 19-year old Jonathon Bell of Shreveport, was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries. Riley and Bell were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. A toxicology sample was obtained from Riley and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation. The majority of fatal and serious injury crashes involve occupants who are not wearing seat belts. Troopers would like to remind motorists of the importance of being properly restrained at all times in every seating position in the vehicle. Buckle up Louisiana. Every trip. Every time.
