| TROOP G - NEWS RELEASE December 2, 2011 Bienville Parish Fatal Crash A man has died in a single-vehicle crash in Bienville Parish. Louisiana State Police Troop G Troopers responded to the crash last night at about 10:35 pm. The investigation revealed that a 1992 Buick LeSabre was traveling east on LA 4, approximately one mile west of Castor, approaching a right hand curve. The driver failed to negotiate the curve, crossed the center line, and ran off the left side of the roadway. The Buick entered a ditch where it overturned a couple of times before coming to rest. The driver, identified as 60-year-old Eddie Barnes from Castor, LA, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bienville Parish Coroner's Office. Barnes was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, but routine toxicology tests are pending. While not all crashes are survivable, the proper wearing of a seat belt and the correct use of age and size appropriate child restraints are still the best ways to reduce injuries and deaths in traffic crashes. In 2011,Troop G Troopers have investigated 24 fatal crashes resulting in 27 deaths.
