| Troop G News Release - September 21, 2011 Minden Man Seriously Injured in Crash on Interstate 20 Webster Parish – On September 21, 2011, at 8:30 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 at milepost 43, just west of Dixie Inn, in Webster Parish. A Minden man was seriously injured in the crash. According to investigating troopers, 23-year-old Jarius Twilley of Chicago, IL was traveling west on Interstate 20 while operating a 2004 Freightliner (tractor trailer), when he approached slow moving traffic due to a previous crash. At that time, a 2001 Land Rover that was traveling west on Interstate 20, collided with the rear portion of the tractor trailer. After impact, the Land Rover became wedged underneath the rear of the trailer and was dragged several hundred feet to its point of rest. The driver of the Land Rover, 34-year-old Russell Johnston of Minden, was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and sustained serious injuries. He was transported to Louisiana State University Health Science Center (LSUHSC) in Shreveport by Life Air Rescue. Twilley was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was not injured. While the crash remains under investigation, troopers urge motorists to remain vigilant while driving and remember that crashes are unexpected events. By taking precautionary steps including never driving while distracted or impaired and always obeying the laws of the road, motorists can substantially reduce their risk of being involved and/or injured in a crash.
