TROOP G - NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release July 6, 2012 Teenagers Killed in Bossier Parish Fatal Crash This afternoon, Louisiana State Police Troop G investigated a three vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 20, east of LA Highway 157, which claimed the lives of two Shreveport teenagers. According to investigating troopers, on July 6, 2012, at 2:34 p.m., a 2003 Buick Lesabre, driven by 17-year-old Arien Manshack of Shreveport, was traveling east on Interstate 20 at mile post 29 when, for unknown reasons, it crossed the median and struck a 2002 Toyota Sequoia driven by 41-year-old April Walker of Minden. After that collision, the Buick Lesabre continued east and struck a 2007 Peterbuilt driven by 51-year-old Richard Cook of Laurel, MT. The Buick Lesabre came to rest in the west bound lanes of Interstate 20 following the second collision. The Toyota Sequoia came to rest upon impact and the Peterbuilt came to a controlled stop on the westbound shoulder of Interstate 20. Manshack was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bossier Parish coroner. The front seat passenger of the Buick Lesabre, 16-year-old Megan Mote of Shreveport, was airlifted to Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport where she died from her injures. The occupants of the Toyota and the Peterbuilt were not injured. Toxicology samples have been obtained from the drivers involved in the crash and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. While the crash remains under investigation, troopers urge motorists to remain vigilant while driving and remember that crashes are unexpected events. By taking precautionary steps including never driving while distracted or impaired and always obeying the laws of the road, motorists can substantially reduce their risk of being involved in a crash.
