Earlier this afternoon, a crash involving two vehicles seriously injured a man from Mansfield, LA.

Troopers responded to the crash around 1:00 pm, which occurred on US Hwy 84 at LA Hwy 191. The crash involved a 2000 Ford pickup, driven by James Lance Alexander (W/M 36 yrs) and a 2004 Ford pickup, driven by Steve Crane (W/M 52 yrs) of Logansport, LA. The 2000 Ford was south bound on Bethel Road approaching the intersection of US Hwy 84, prior to the collision. As the 2000 Ford attempted to cross the intersection, to enter LA Hwy 191, the 2004 Ford collided with it. The 2004 Ford was east bound on US Hwy 84.

Alexander was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected. He was transported to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport with serious injuries.

Crane was wearing his seatbelt and received moderate injuries. He was transported to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!”
