Claiborne Parish Fatal Crash Earlier today, a single vehicle crash killed two women and moderately injured a man.
Troopers responded to the crash around 4:30 pm, which occurred on US Hwy 79 at Pine Hill Road. The crash involved a 2003 Honda Accord, driven by Donald L. Perkins (B/M 80 yrs) of Haynesville, LA. The Honda was north bound on US Hwy 79 when Perkins lost control and exited the left side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with a tree.
Perkins received moderate injuries and was transported to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport. Mae G. Perkins (B/F 81 yrs) of Haynesville, LA and Marcella A. George (B/F 95 yrs) of New Orleans, LA were passengers in the Honda. Both were wearing their seatbelts and both were pronounced dead.
Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
While not all crashes are survivable, seatbelts can greatly decrease the occupant’s chance of death and will greatly reduce the extent of injury.
Troop G troopers have investigated 8 fatal crashes in 2012, resulting in 9 fatalities.
