TROOP G - NEWS RELEASE September 17, 2014 Crash Claims Life of Unrestrained Driver DeSoto Parish-On September 15, 2014, at 4:01 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on Old Highway Road, just south of Hudson Darby Road that claimed the life of a Mansfield man. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2003 Ford F-150 driven by 73-year-old Marcus Tuck of Mansfield was traveling south on Old Highway Road when, for unknown reasons, his vehicle veered off the right side of roadway and crashed. Tuck, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was initially transported to a nearby hospital by DeSoto EMS with life-threatening injuries and was later transported to a hospital in Shreveport. On the evening of Tuesday September 16, 2014, Tuck died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the crash. A toxicology sample was obtained from Tuck and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. Louisiana law requires motor vehicle occupants to be properly restrained in every seating position, day and night. Wearing a seatbelt significantly reduces the likelihood of being seriously injured or killed as the result of a crash and is the single most effective thing motorists can do to protect themselves.
