TROOP G NEWS RELEASE July 13, 2014 Unrestrained Driver Killed In Bienville Parish On July 13, 2014, at 12:04 p.m., Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a single vehicle fatal crash on Foster Arbor Road at Byrd Lee Road that left a Castor man dead. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2002 Chevrolet truck, driven by 58-year-old William Reeves of Castor, was traveling south on Foster Arbor Road when for unknown reasons it lost control and traveled off the left side of the road. The Chevrolet then struck a tree. Reeves was not wearing his seat belt and suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash. He was taken to a hospital in Shreveport where he died. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash. A toxicology sample was taken and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists of the importance of seatbelt use. Louisiana law requires that every person in a motor vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. While not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a violent crash rise significantly when properly restrained. While the cause of this crash remains under investigation, inattentive and distracted driving contribute to a significant number of crashes in our state.
