TROOP G NEWS RELEASE

June 4, 2014
Unrestrained Mansfield Man Killed in Crash

On June 3, 2014, at approximately 6:01p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a one vehicle crash on LA Hwy 3015 west of Grand Cane, in DeSoto Parish. The crash claimed the life of a Mansfield, LA man that was not wearing his seatbelt.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 1992 Dodge truck, driven by 60-year-old David Sudds Jr., lost control of his vehicle and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle began overturning multiple times, collided with a fence, and came to rest against a tree. While the Dodge was overturning, Sudds was ejected from the vehicle.

Sudds Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene by the DeSoto Parish Coroner’s Office.

Alcohol use is also suspected to be a factor in the crash. A toxicology sample was taken and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!”

Troop G has investigated 6 fatal crashes this year which have resulted in 6 deaths.
