TROOP G - NEWS RELEASE September 28, 2014 Motorcycle Crash Claims the Life of A Converse Man DeSoto Parish- On September 27, 2014, at 9:14 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a crash involving a motorcycle and a car on US Highway 171 at Ranchland Drive in DeSoto Parish that claimed the life of a Converse man. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2003 Harley Davison motorcycle driven by 57-year-old Robert Walton of Converse, LA was traveling south on US 171, when a 2007 Toyota Camery driven by 21-year-old Celeste Brewer of Stonewall pulled into his path. Brewer was traveling east on Ranchland Drive, when she entered US 171 and was struck by Walton. The impact ejected Walton causing fatal injuries. Walton was pronounced dead at the scene by the DeSoto Parish Coroner. Toxicology samples were obtained and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. Inattentive and distracted driving is dangerous and is a leading cause of crashes in our state.
