TROOP G - NEWS RELEASE November 1, 2014 Crash Claims Life of Unrestrained Driver Claiborne Parish-On November 1, 2014, at 1:36 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 534, just south of Louisiana Highway 2 that claimed the life of a Pineville woman. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by 53-year-old Pamela Montes of Pineville was traveling south on LA 534 when she lost control of the vehicle, exited the roadway, and crashed. Montes was not wearing her seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Montes was transported to University Health by Life Air where she was later pronounced dead. A toxicology sample was obtained from Montes and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. Louisiana law requires motor vehicle occupants to be properly restrained in every seating position, day and night. Wearing a seatbelt significantly reduces the likelihood of being seriously injured or killed as the result of a crash and is the single most effective thing motorists can do to protect themselves.
